James K. Roe, age 74, passed away August 19, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on December 31, 1939 in Coleman, Texas to Fred Franklin Roe and Hattie Hughey Roe. James graduated from Edison High School and attended San Antonio College. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Floresville, a member of the Bexar County Search and Rescue Mounted Patrol and Wilson County Classic Car Club. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Dixie and USS Hull, retiring from the Navy Reserve after 25 years and a 35 year civilian career at Kelly Air Force Base. He was preceded in death by his son, Brett Alan Roe, parents, Fred and Hattie Roe, brother, Fred Roe and sister Ruth Thompson. James is survived by his wife of 50 years, Martha Ann Roe; son, Justin W. Roe; granddaughter, Alexis Mackenzie Roe; grandson, Seth Blocker; sister and brother in law, Alanna and Anthony Lanza; Nieces, Kristin Lanza, Sandra McLemore, Dawn Ngueyen; nephews, Christopher Lanza, Mickey Roe. Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road on Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 22, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church, 9944 Leslie Rd at Braun and Loop 1604 with Rev. Russell Peak officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
